In Greene County district court Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 41, of Ames was sentenced Sept. 13 to 14 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, amended from domestic abuse assault- second offense. The jail sentence is consecutive to the sentence in another Greene County case; Lawrence is to receive credit for time served. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. Additionally, as a result of his conviction, he shall not possess, ship, transport or receive firearms, offensive weapons or ammunition. Lawrence was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse assault surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $272.50 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 36, of Jefferson was sentenced to 14 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Alicia Marie Hawkins, 31, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia; Cory Paul Beidler, 27, of Bouton, eluding more than 25 mph over limit; Jeffrey Joseph Gibbons, 53, of Madrid, operating while intoxicated; Roger Keith Ketchum Jr, 33, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Jose Zeferino Hernandez Bravo, 26, of Urbandale, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Nov. 2 for all defendants except Bravo. His trial date was set for Dec. 7.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Garrett Michael Tasler, 19, of Carroll, possession of marijuana; Destiny Ann George, 18, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana; Casey Roland Kennedy, 21, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Timothy Glen Pittman, 19, of Lehigh, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense and possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Jackson Lee Norton, 29, of Dexter, possess contraband in correctional facility and dominion/control of firearm or offensive weapon as felon; Casey Roland Kennedy, 21, of Grand Junction, criminal mischief- second degree; and Seth Anthony Hawkins, 24, of Des Moines, driving while license revoked.
