Pair of new boat ramps installed after March ’19 flood damage

Greene County conservation completed the construction of two new boat ramps this summer. Funding came from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after both the Squirrel Hollow ramp southeast of Jefferson and the McMahon Access ramp east of Scranton were damaged by March 2019 flooding.

Due to the river changing course at the McMahon location, the ramp was moved two miles upstream to the Claus or Black Pit location on Highway 30. It will now be called the Highway 30 Access.

The Greene County secondary roads department assisted in the site preparation and finish work to make the projects financially possible according to recently retired conservation director Dan Towers.
