Your Life Iowa helps Iowans get through tough times

New Opportunities is introducing a free, confidential resource available through the Iowa Department of Public Health for all Iowans facing a difficult time or situation.

Your Life Iowa is a one stop shop when it comes to finding help for substance use, problem gambling, suicide prevention, and mental health support.  There is no judgment, only help.  Your Life Iowa can be found online at YourLifeIowa.org, by phone at 855-581-8111, text 855-895-8398, or live chat.

Your Life Iowa is a resource for parents and loved ones. “Have you ever wondered if someone you love may have a problem they need help with?  If so, Your Life Iowa may be able to help,” a New Opportunities spokesperson said. “Answer a few short questions on the Your Life Iowa website to see if you or a loved one may be at risk for problems with alcohol, drugs, gambling, or suicide. No matter the outcome, Your Life Iowa is your starting place for help.”

The program is designed to guide persons towards the help they may need. Your Life Iowa has trained counselors available 24 hours a day, seven days per week who can provide support during a difficult time. They can also help persons find services in their home area.

New Opportunities substance abuse treatment and prevention departments offer information, education, and consultation services to schools, businesses, and community-based groups, many of which are free of charge due to funding from the IDPH Integrated Provider Network, with services funded by the Iowa Department of Public Health and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Persons who have questions about Your Life Iowa or are interested in learning more about this or other substance abuse topics, can contact Nancy Rowedder, prevention supervisor, at nrowedder@newopp.org or call 712-792-9266.
