The Greene County girls soccer team had a busy week that included six matches. The Rams came close to victories on Monday, April 26, but ended losing 2-1 to both Humboldt and Logan-Magnolia in Grand Junction.
Greene County traveled to Grandview Christian April 29 where they fell 10-0. Coach Peyton Paddock noted the game ended 21 minutes into the second half by the 10-goal “mercy rule.” Goalie Kaylee Stalder had 12 saves.
“The players are showing major improvements in skills and knowledge of the game,” assured the coach.
Saturday the Rams took part in a tournament at Nodaway Valley in Greenfield. Creston was the third team in the event. Greene County went the distance in both games, losing 4-0 to Nodaway Valley/West Central Valley and 2-1 to Creston.
NV/WCV scored three goals in the first half and one in the second for the win. Stalder saved eight goal attempts by the Wolverines.
Esther Van Horn scored her first varsity goal in the first half and that gave the Rams a 1-0 lead, their first of the season. Creston scored twice in the second half to gain the victory. Stalder posted nine saves. ~ courtesy of The Scranton Journal
