Rams, Rockets compete at co-ed Hawk Relays

The Greene County and Paton-Churdan track and field teams competed at the co-ed Hawk Relays hosted by Woodward-Granger in Woodward April 28.

A composite score of boys and girls teams was provided. Woodward-Granger won the meet with 277 points. Close behind was Greene County with 265 points. Other team scores were West Central Valley 166, Nodaway Valley 162, Glidden-Ralston 161, and Paton-Churdan 63.

In girls field events, P-C’s Danielle Hoyle won the shot put with a throw of 37’ 6”. Ram Brooklynn Olson placed second at 35’ 3”, and Ram Emma Hoyle placed third at 31’ 8”. Olson and Hoyle traded positions in the discus, with Olson winning with a throw of 115’ 4-1/2”, and Hoyle taking second with 107’ 5”. Hoyle placed fifth at 94’ 1/2”. Rocket Camryn Paup placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 12’ 7-1/4”. Ram Kelsi Miller placed sixth at 11’ 11-1/2”.

The Rockets did not have competitors in all the track events.

Rams Katrina Heupel and Natalie Heupel placed first and second respectively in the 400m dash. Katrina ran the race in 1:04:88, with Natalie about a half-second behind her in 1:05.43.

Olivia Shannon finished the 200m dash in third place with a time of 27.64 seconds. Makala Kafer was sixth in 28.54 seconds. In the 100m dash, Katrina Heupel finished fifth with a time of 13.75 seconds.

Paup finished fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.44 seconds.

Grace Hardaway added a point to the Rams’ score with a sixth place finish in the 1500m run in 6:20.10.

In relays, the Rams 4 X 400m relay team of Olivia Shannon, Katrina Heupel, Makala Kafer and Natalie Heupel finished first with a time of 4:32.18. The Ram girls finished the 4 X 100m relay in fourth place with a time of 57.97 second. Runners were Gretah Johnson, Annie Twillie, Georgia Osterson and Alexa Peters. The Rockets finished in fifth place with a time of 58.45 seconds. Team composition was not provided in meet results.

The Ram 4 X 200m relay finished in fourth place with a time of 2:06.63. Johnson, Alexa Peters, Kelsi Miller and Annie Twillie comprised the team. Paton-Churdan claimed fifth place in the 800m sprint medly relay with a time of 2:10.52. The Rams were in sixth place with 2:14.88. The team was Johnson, Peters, Maddie McCarthy and Twillie. The Rams were fourth in the distance medley relay with Caroline Kellogg, Georgia Osterson, Johnson and Grace Hardaway clocking 5:27.34. Paton-Churdan was in sixth place with a time of 5:30.08.

Girls only scores were Nodaway Valley 162, Woodward Granger 105, West Central Valley 103, Greene County 80, Glidden-Ralston 65, and Paton-Churdan 31.

Greene County won in boys competition with 185 points, followed by Woodward Granger 172, Glidden-Ralston 96, West Central Valley 63 and Paton-Churdan 32.

In boys field events, Ram Nathan Black won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’ 10”. Ram Matthew Hovick was fourth at 4’ 10”. Ram Bryce Stalder won the long jump with a leap of 12’ 1-1/2”. Ram Josh Ewalt won the discus with a throw of 130’ 1-1/2”. Rocket Bradyn Smith was second at 120’ 9”, followed by Ram Blake Hammen in third at 108’ 5/1/2”. Ewalt was second in the shot put with a throw of 39; 9”. Broc Hammen was third at 37’ 9”, and Smith was fourth with a throw of 37’ 2”.  

Ram Jackson Morton won the 110m hurdles in 15.47 seconds. He won the 400m hurdles in 1:00.67.

Ram Ethan Larsen won the 800m run with a time of 2:16.45. Black finished third in 2:25:15. Ram Logan Woodruff won the 1600m run posting a time of 5:03.61. Rocket Forest Thompson was third with a time of 5:30.74, with Rocket Connor Brus in fifth place with a time of 5:39.81. Woodruff also won the 3200m run with a time of 11:01.98.

Nathan Wailes placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.58 seconds.

Rams Daniel Rivera, Jaxon Warnke, Richard Daugherty and Stalder won the 4 X 100m relay with a tie of 45.96 seconds. The same line-up won the 4 X 200m relay with a time of 1:34.33. Paton-Churdan placed fourth in that race in 1:53.31.

Rams Black, Stalder, Warnke and Morton won the 4 X 110m shuttle hurdle relay in 1:02.79.  Rams Rivera, Wailes, Warnke and Richard Daugherty claimed first in the 800m sprint medley relay with a time of 1:39.50. Paton-Churdan placed fifth in 1:59.36. The Rams 4 X 800m relay team of Ethan Larsen, Hovick, Jackson Turner and Anthony Tolsdorf placed second in 10:31.80.

In the boys distance medley relay, Paton-Churdan took third place in 4:27.11, while Rams Patrick Daughtery, Brian Burris, Eli Mohr and Ewalt placed fourth in 4:29.76. Burris, Mohr, Hovick and Turner placed fourth in the 4 X 400m relay with a time of 4:14.41.
