Grain marketing meeting slated in Ogden

Area ag producers are invited to learn more about grain merchandizing and other crop marketing strategies at an ag marketing club meeting hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offices.

Meetings are slated for Monday, March 8, at 6:30 pm at the Ogden Community Center, 114 SW 8th St in Ogden; Tuesday, March 9, at 6:30 pm at the Grundy Center Community Center at 705 F Ave in Grundy Center; and Thursday, March 11, at 6:30 pm at First State Bank, 413 East St, in Lynville.

The featured speaker will be Patrick Hatting, ISU Extension farm management specialist and a grain merchandiser professional. He will speak about basis contract, buying future and a put or call option; delayed and minimum price contracts; spot cash sale and a forward cash contract; and hedge, hedge to arrive contract and the difference from a forward cash contract.
