To the editor,
So, this is how the Trump presidency ends, with insurrection, violence and murder.
Trump and son Don Jr. incited the MAGA crowd and the violence that followed but Republican politicians, including Iowa’s Grassley, Ernst and Reynolds, enabled him for four years, both vocally and in cowardly silence.
You could say that all 74 million people who voted for Trump are complicit. The country remains a nation profoundly divided. Whether this can be mended remains to be seen.
If Trump had handled the pandemic like a decent human being it is likely he would have been reelected. That is a terrifying thought.
Everyone should think about what Trump has wrought. It is being said that we are better than this. Perhaps but, if this is true we’d better start proving it, now.
Sincerely,
Bruce Banister, Jefferson
