Greene County district court, ending Nov. 27

In Greene County district court Brooklyn Sage Podell, 21, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 30 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and she was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She was fined $115 with a $17.25 surcharge. Podell also changed her plea to guilty on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was sentenced to two days in jail, concurrent to the assault sentence. She may serve the jail time in Cerro Gordo county. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. No judgment for a fine or surcharge was entered on the charge. She must pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $600. Court costs were $131.50. James Kenneth Harris, 33, of Woodward was sentenced to 45 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury, amended from domestic abuse assault- third of subsequent offense. The jail time is consecutive to a 30-day jail term to which he was sentenced on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia; that sentence was suspended. Harris was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $600. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Karl Maurice Krieger, 27, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 20 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Krieger was fined $1,250 with a $1897.50 surcharge; one-half was waived as he has already obtained a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
