The number of Covid-19 cases in Greene County continues its upward climb. Greene County public health director Becky Wolf reported Tuesday morning there are now 252 active cases in the county, with 26 new cases reported in the previous 24 hours.
A total of 430 residents have had or now have Covid-19. One resident has died from the illness. Twenty-eight percent have had no symptoms, and 44 percent had no pre-existing conditions.
The 14-day positivity rate for testing is 26.3 percent. There have been 209 new cases in the past 14 days, nearly half the total since the pandemic hit Iowa last February.
The age breakdown of cases is: 0-18 years old, 17 percent; 19-39 years old, 30 percent; 40-59 years old, 30 percent; 60-79 years old, 18 percent; and 80 or older, 5 percent.
Wolf also shared information explaining the difference between quarantine and isolation. In short, quarantine keeps someone who was in close contact with someone who has Covid-19 away from others. Isolation keeps someone with Covid-19 (both those with and without symptoms) from people who are not infected. Click here for more information.
