The Greene County volleyball team lost three straight sets in Nevada Oct. 8 with scores of 15-25, 9-25 and 20-25.

The Rams couldn’t match the power of the Cubs as Nevada dominated every aspect of the game. They posted 43 kills to GC’s 20; had 38 digs to 14 for the Rams, and recorded 96 percent accuracy at the service line to Greene County’s 84 percent.

“The third set represented what we are capable of doing. Nevada is a good team, so it was good to be able to hang with them at the end,” said coach Chris Heisterkamp.  “Overall, our passing was decent, we had many strong attacks, and worked well together as a team.”

Brianna Osterson tallied nine kills, followed by five for Lily Muir and four for Isabella Schroeder. Natalie Heupel set nine assists. Muir topped the chart with five digs. Emma Hoyle fired 10/11 serves with two aces. Heupel, Osterson and Muir each connected for an ace serve.

Greene County winds up the regular season at the Winterset Tournament Saturday with eight teams competing. Action begins at 9 am.

Regional assignments have been announced by the IGHSAU. Greene County will host Southeast Valley of Gowrie on Monday, Oct. 19, in the new high school gymnasium on Highway 30. Match time is 7 pm.
