Positivity rate of positive Covid-19 cases in county now at 8.6 percent

Masks now required in all Greene County schools

As of Thursday morning, Oct 8, Greene County currently has 145 confirmed cases of Covid-19, reports Greene County public health director Becky Wolf.  That’s two new cases in the past 24 hours. Seventy-two people have recovered (38 with no pre-existing condition) and no deaths.

The average rate of positive cases over the past 14 days has increased from 7.7 percent Wednesday, to 8.6 percent Thursday.

If the current rate of spread continues, the case count will double in 25 days.

Breakdown for age groups for positive cases:

  • 0-18 years: 14 percent
  • 19-39 years: 34 percent
  • 40-59 years: 36 percent
  • 60-74 years: 14 percent
  • 80 and older: 6 percent

Wolf reminds all county residents that if an infected person and a close contact are BOTH wearing masks, a 14-day quarantine is not needed for that close contact.

Information of Covid cases in the Greene County Schools is available on the school district’s website. As of Oct. 3, there were six Covid-positive students – three at the high school, two at the middle school, and one at the elementary school. One high school staff member and one elementary staff member was positive.

Contact tracing has been done, according to the website. All three schools are now at “Red” on the mask matrix: masks are required at all times.
