Numerous fire departments responded to a business and residential fire that occurred in Grand Junction Saturday night, Oct. 3.

The emergency call came from a business and home owned by Doug Moranville on 18th St near Highway 30 about 8:53 pm. Both buildings were considered total losses and no one was hurt in the incident. One cause of concern was a propane tank located on the north side of the property, which the emergency agencies removed from the scene.

The Grand Junction, Paton, Churdan, Jefferson, Rippey, Scranton, Ogden, and Perry Fire Departments, Greene County sheriff’s office, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction rescue all assisted at the scene.

Authorities believe the fire originated from a utility-terrain vehicle that was parked between the business shop area and the homestead. The cause remains under investigation but the fire appears to be accidental in nature.
