Food insecurity is an issue for many Greene County residents. That is why Greene County Farm Bureau is partnering with the Jefferson Fareway store and the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center again this year to “Cram the Cab” to help meet the needs of those who are struggling to put food on the table for their families.
During the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5, Fareway shoppers will be asked to round up their grocery bill to the nearest dollar or purchase a $5, $10, $15 or $20 pre-packaged bag of groceries at Fareway. “The need is great in our local community and who knows? You may be helping a neighbor, friend or co-worker,” a Farm Bureau spokesperson said.
The goal is to raise money and donate much needed food items to assist the local food pantry as volunteers there have seen an increase in demand due to Covid-19. “By working together, the bags of groceries and the pennies and change from many adds ups,” the spokesperson said.
