Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Monday, Aug. 31: At 9:41 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Dudley St in Churdan. At 8:39 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on P Ave near 255th St in Grant Township.

Saturday, Aug. 29: At 2:27 am a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction Rescue and Fire responded to a single-vehicle personal injury accident in the 1900 block of County Road E-53 west of Grand Junction. Emmalin Nelson, 17, of Emmetsburg was operating a 2004 Toyota Corolla. She failed to stop at T Ave and E-53. The vehicle crossed the roadway, entered the ditch, struck a utility pole and then rolled onto its top. Nelson had minor injuries. The vehicle was totaled. There were two other occupants in the vehicle. The two passengers had severe injuries; all three were transported to Greene County Medical Center. All three were underage. Nelson will be charged with operating while under the influence- first offense*. She was cited for failure to obey stop sign, and failure to maintain control. The accident remains under investigation. At 1:53 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident at Highways 30 and 25 at Scranton. Margaret Hamilton, 61, of Jefferson was southbound operating a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze. She stopped at the intersection as posted. Austin Hulsing, 18, of Carroll was northbound in a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu; he also stopped as posted. Both vehicles let the stop signs and collided. There were no injuries. Damage to Hamilton’s vehicle was estimated at $8,000. Damage to Hulsing’s vehicle was estimated at $2,500. At 4:38 pm a deputy and Rippey Fire responded to a fire in the 2000 block of County Road P-46 (W Ave) near Rippey. The property owner called to have hot spots put out from a previous fire. At 8:29 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.
Friday, Aug. 28: At 4:16 pm a deputy and Grand Junction fire responded to a grass fire that was started by a train in the 1100 block of Highway 144 north of Grand Junction. At 5:29 pm a deputy assisted with getting a cow back in the fence near 290th Street and County Road P-30 (R Ave) in Franklin Township. At 5:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of State St in Scranton. At 6:13 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1000 block of 200th St in Bristol Township. At 8:31 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of forgery in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton.
Thursday, Aug. 27: At 2:25 pm the sheriff and deputies assisted the Jefferson PD with the arrest of Matthew Goff, 46, of Bayard on a warrant for trespass- second offense and criminal mischief- fourth degree*. At 2:41 pm a deputy assisted the JPD by covering a backing accident in the 100 block of E. Clark St. William Blanchard, 57, of Jefferson backed his 2005 GMC Envoy into a parked 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck owned by Sandra Ford, 78, of Jefferson. Blanchard was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $500. Damage to Ford’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
Wednesday, Aug. 26: At 3:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog attacking a cat in the 300 block of 3rd St in Rippey. At 4:38 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with a one-vehicle accident on County Road E-63 (330rd St) and A Ave in Willow Township. Randall Venteicher, 51, of Scranton was eastbound on E-63. He attempted to turn onto A Ave but lost control of his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and entered the north ditch. Venteicher was arrested by a Carroll County deputy for operating while intoxicated*. Damage to his pickup truck exceeded value. At 11:32 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of youngsters vandalizing new playground equipment in the Churdan city park.
Tuesday, Aug. 25: At 8;42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Rippey.
Monday, Aug. 24: At 10:27 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 400 block of E. Paton St in Paton. At 6:10 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 400 block of E. Paton St in Paton. At 8:53 pm a deputy and Scranton fire responded to a car fire on County Road E-53 Street near Highway 25 south of Scranton. Raymond Cornelius, 30, of Scranton was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruse when he noticed flames under the hood. The car was a complete loss. The fire was determined to be caused by improperly installed after-market equipment.
Sunday, Aug. 23: At 7:23 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of E. Paton St in Paton.
Saturday, Aug: 22: At 7:44 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on County Road P-33 (S Ave) near 210th St in Junction Township. At 9:51 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on P-33 and Highway 30. Jerod Baas, 41, of Ames was driving a 2008 Dodge Dakota (direction of travel not provided) and did not see the vehicle in front of him come to stop. Baas rear-ended a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Donald Keller, 71, of West Des Moines. There were no injuries. Baas was cited for failure to stop in the assured clear distance. Damage to his pickup truck was estimated at $3,500. Damage to Keller’s vehicle was estimated at $8,000. At 12:37 pm a deputy assisted with a dog running at large in the 800 block of High St in Scranton.
Friday, Aug. 21: At 8:43 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 2200 block of 320th St in Washington Township. At 2:06 pm the sheriff investigated a head stone that was located under an old building that was being demolished in the 100 block Main St E in Grand Junction.
Thursday, Aug. 20: At 6:38 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on County Road E-53 near Jordan Ave west of Jefferson.
Wednesday, Aug. 19: At 10:50 am the sheriff investigated a possible sex offender registry violation in Jefferson. At 12:17 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person on Highway 30 near S Ave west of Grand Junction. Wayne Johnson, 46, of Fort Dodge was identified. He was wanted for a violation of parole out of Webster County for theft and forgery. Johnson was arrested.
Tuesday, Aug. 18: At 9:26 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 300 block of Head St in Churdan. At 11:14 am the sheriff investigated a theft in the 1200 block of Head St in Churdan. At 8:35 pm a deputy arrested Debbie McAllister, 62, of Grand Junction on a warrant for operating while intoxicated*.
Monday, Aug. 17: At 9:28 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 300 block of 7th St S in Grand Junction. At 4:59 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of 215th St in Bristol Township.
Sunday, Aug. 16: At 4:05 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of Jefferson St in Scranton. Trevor Baugh, 25, of Scranton was arrested for carrying weapons, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse assault and harassment- second degree*.
Saturday, Aug. 15: At 11:40 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 1400 block of Highway 144 in Junction Township. At 2:50 pm a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, Grand Junction rescue, and Rippey fire responded to a 2-vehicle accident on County Road P-40 near 270th St in Junction Township. Michael Henkel, 52, of Lake City was operating a 2013 Harley Davidson FLHTCUSE and rear-ended James Hof, 56, of Carroll on his 2009 Harley Davidson FLHTCUTG. Henkel and his passenger were both transported to the Greene County Medical Center. At 11:50 pm a deputy, Churdan rescue, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident in the 900 block of 130th St in Highland Township. Jeremy Roper, 36, of Churdan was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra and entered the north ditch, hitting a field drive causing the vehicle to roll onto its top. Roper was transported to the Greene County Medical Center. The airbags deployed and the vehicle was totaled in the accident. Arrest warrants are being applied for Roper on a charge of operating while intoxicated*.
Friday, Aug. 14: At 8:32 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of Madison St in Scranton. At 9:05 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton.
Thursday, Aug. 13: At 3:40 pm a deputy investigated an abandoned 911 call in Scranton. At 3:44 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department assisted a hog hauler with cooling hogs while the truck was repaired on Highway 30 near Eaton Ave in Scranton. At 9:54 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 245th St near L Ave in Greenbrier Township. Kaleb Hoyle, 17, of Grand Junction struck a deer with a 2006 Ford F250 pickup truck, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the truck. At 10:54 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an attempted burglary in the 600 block of S. Oak St.
Wednesday, Aug. 12: At 8:17 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 1800 block of County Road E-53 (235th St) in Grant Township. At 12:32 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 800 block of Hager St E in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Aug. 11: At 5:46 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 25 near County Road E-57 (290th St) in Willow Township. Alex McClellan, 24, of Guthrie Center struck a deer with a 2019 Ford Ranger, causing an estimated $2,500 damage to the truck. At 8:16 am a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a power pole fire on Highway 25 near 300th St in Willow Township. At 9:47 am a deputy investigated a gas drive-off in Churdan. At 2:26 pm a deputy arrested Kaleb Lentz, 26, of Scranton for driving while license revoked*. At 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a theft on 310th St and D Ave in Willow Township. At 9:23 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office trying to locate a white Ford Crown Victoria with red and blue lights and siren being driven in Ralston.
Monday, Aug. 10: Starting at 10:14 am the sheriff and deputies responded to numerous weather-related calls. At 10:45 am a deputy responded to a single-vehicle accident on W Ave near 230th St in Junction Township. Utility poles were blown down and the landed on 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling a trailer hauling a UTV. The truck was driven by Jason McClellan, 44, of Boone. There were no injuries. The total amount of damage was not determined as the power lines were still down. At 11:08 am a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 2:19 pm the sheriff investigated a theft in the 800 block of 12th St S in Grand Junction. At 2:19 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Main St in Grand Junction. At 7:02 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 200 block of Howard St in Rippey.
Sunday, Aug. 9: At 1:35 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 100 block of 3rd St in Rippey. Timothy Shay, 79, of Perry was southbound on Highway 144 driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Gavin Godfrey, 17, of Jamaica was turning right onto Highway 144 in a 2013 Ford Escape. Godfrey turned in front of Shay and the vehicles collided. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $3,000. There were no injuries reported.
Saturday, Aug. 8: At 2:51 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road P-14 (J Ave) near 215th St in Bristol Township. The driver had left before the deputy arrived. At 10:22 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a barking dog in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 12:30 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with trying to locate a male subject. At 9:50 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in the 500 block of 11th St S in Grand Junction.
Friday, Aug. 7: At 1:30 pm a deputy arrested Michael Matthews, 24, of Grand Junction on arrest warrants for public intoxication and assault on persons in certain occupations.*. At 2:16 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fraud in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 7:17 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 400 block of Harding St in Scranton.
Thursday, Aug. 6: At 12:14 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of 7th St in Grand Junction. At 5:22 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 400 block of Head St in Churdan. At 7:50 pm Guadalupe Rubio, 42, of Texas was booked into the jail for no hazmat shipping papers, failure to display hazmat placards, operating without a license, providing false identification and an arrest warrant for vehicle theft out of Texas*. At 10:55 pm a deputy assisted the Calhoun County sheriff’s office with a pursuit near 110th Stand M Ave in Highland Township.
Wednesday, Aug. 5: At 10:14 am a deputy investigated a fire in the 1300 block of L Ave in Jackson Township. The fire was put out by the property owner after being advised there was a burn ban. At 11:58 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of State St in Scranton. At 3:28 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of Main St in Scranton. At 3:50 pm the sheriff and deputies attempted to arrest Bradley Wolf in the 800 block of L Ave in Bristol Township but he fled in to a corn field. At 5:20 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 400 block of Harding St in Churdan.
Tuesday, Aug. 4: At 5:29 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 5:58 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 and County Road P-14 (J Ave). Cathy Melton, 45, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the vehicle. At 11:27 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 600 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 4:10 pm a deputy attempted to arrest Bradley Wolf, 46, of Jefferson in the 800 block of L Ave in Bristol Township on arrest warrants for failure to appear. Wolf fled into a corn field and was not located. At 8 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1800 block of 195th St in Junction Hardin Township.
Monday, Aug. 3: At 2:47 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2000 block of Highway 4 south of Jefferson. At 11:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 2100 block of Highway 4 in Franklin Township.
Sunday, Aug. 2: At 5 pm a deputy, Jefferson fire, and Grand Junction fire responded to hay bales on fire on Quaker Avenue and 235th St.
Saturday, Aug. 1: Routine activity reported.
