Greene County High School seniors received honor cords, scholarships and applause at the annual Awards Night May 20. Fifty-four students received local scholarships totaling $92,000, and if all other scholarships presented are full disbursed, they would total $595,000.
The evening began with the presentation of gold cords to students who earned a 3.0 grade point average or higher. Gold cord recipients were Kamden Badger, Thea Ballard, Gabe Bardole, Morgan Bennett, Kyle Bettey, Kate Beyerink, Abby Bravard, Kyann Brown, Morgan Buenz, Hannah Burkhardt, Jacob Challen, Shelby Cooklin, Mallory Doran, Benjamin Erickson, Dylan Forkner, Taylor Hardin, Cody Hidlebaugh, Logan Hoyt, Emily Jacobsen, Karl Jones and Stephanie Joy.

Students were honored for performing and documenting community service during their high school years. Jefferson-Scranton students performed 200 hours over four years and East Greene students preformed 100 hours over the past two years. Receiving green cords for volunteerism were Thea Ballard, Kate Beyerink, Kyann Brown, Taylor Hardin, Sean Kenan and Crystal McEntire.
Kyann Brown was honored with the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Award. Beth Tuesch received a certificate of merit in the National Merit Scholarship program and Ben Erickson received a National Merit Scholarship commendation.
