Authentic paella, a typical Spanish dish of rice, chicken, vegetables, butter beans and seasoning will be the feature dish at a fundraiser meal for the Greene County Animal Facility.
The meal will be served Sunday, Oct. 6, at 12 pm at the Welcome Center, 201 E. Lincoln Way, in Jefferson.
The paella will be prepared by Piet van der Meer of Spain and his wife Amy. Both are Spanish teachers, with Piet teaching in West Des Moines and Amy teaching at Greene County High School. The meal includes a salad, dessert and a beverage.
Dinner entertainment will be provided by Piet van der Meer on his guitar.
Cost of the meal is $25, payable by check or cash. Checks should be payable to “City of Jefferson” with “Greene County animal facility” on the memo line.
Tickets are available at the Welcome Center week days from 10 am to 4 pm. Only 30 tickets will be sold.
