A Jefferson couple was injured Saturday afternoon when their motorcycle collided with a GMC Terrain while riding in the Bell Tower Festival poker ride.
The accident occurred at 3:36 pm on Highway 30 at L Ave in Boone County as the poker ride was returning to Jefferson.
According to information from the Iowa State Patrol, Kenneth Dale Hostetler, 54, was northbound on L Ave on his 2009 Harley Davidson Fatboy. His wife, Susan Marie Sherlock, 56, was a passenger. Hostetler stopped at Highway 30 as posted and crossed the eastbound lane into the median crossover.
Christopher Charles Bryant, 52, of Boone was westbound driving a 2010 GMC Terrain.
The ISP report states Hostetler looked but did not see Bryant. Hostetler entered the westbound lane and struck the driver’s side door of Bryant’s vehicle.
Hostetler was ejected to the northwest; Sherlock was ejected to the north. Their motorcycle came to rest in the inside westbound lane. Bryant’s SUV came to rest on the north shoulder of the westbound lane.
Hostetler suffered injuries to his right leg and head. He was transported by air to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Sherlock suffered injures to her right leg and was transported by ground to Methodist Medical Center by Boone County EMS.
Bryant suffered abrasions to his left arm when his airbag deployed. He refused medical attention.
Damage to the motorcycle exceeded value. Damage to the SUV was estimated at $10,000.
The accident is under investigation.
