Larry Fatka of Paton and Roger Carlson of Jefferson were among 160 military veterans on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight to Washington DC last Saturday.
The veterans flew out of Fort Dodge at 6 am and returned at 11:30 pm after a full day of visiting veterans memorials and doing other sightseeing in Washington.
The highlight of their day was being greeted by hundreds of people applauding and waving flags when they landed in Washington and at the World War Two memorial.
Veterans participate in the Honor Flights at no expense to themselves. Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Persons who want more information can call 515-576-0671.
