In Greene County district court Brent Eugene Leon Allen, 34, of Clarinda was sentenced April 26 to two days in jail with credit for time previously served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- fourth degree. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Allen must also pay $200 restitution to HyVee, $385.65 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $1,103 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Emma Michelle Webb, 18, of Anita was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She must pay a $315 civil penalty and a $125 LEI surcharge. She must placed on probation for one year and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Court costs were$218.60. Michael William Caraher, 27, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. A judgment was entered for a $1,250 civil penalty; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary retstricted license. Caraher was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete a community college drinking driver’s program.Court costs were $100. James Merrell Mosley, 46, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed is plea to guilty April 26 to charges of driving while license barred and possession of a controlled substance. The 10-day jail sentence was attached to the driving while barred charge. He was also fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and a $125 LEI surcharge. Mosley was sentenced to seven days in jail on the controlled substance charge; that sentence was suspended and Mosley was placed on informal probation for one year. Karibeth Danielle Baker, 39, of Scranton was sentenced to four days in jail with time served after she changed her plea to guilty April 26 to a charge of driving while license revoked. Danielle Nicole Hermansen, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- first offense. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must also complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Hermansen must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation she has already undergone. She was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Court costs were $100. Trotter, 31, of Carroll, OWI-third offense; Tracey Renea Smith, 54, of Dallas Center, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; and Curtis Gene Hoyt, 54, of Perry, OWI- first offense and driving while license revoked.. Trial dates of May 14 were set for Rabourne and Trotter, and for June 18 in all other cases.
