Youngsters in the Crazy 4 Christ program at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson will present a children’s musical, “Heroes of the Faith,” Wednesday, May 7, at 6:30 pm in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The public is cordially invited.
According to musical director Jenny Wills, “Heroes of the Faith” is about a group of students on a field trip. They learn about for Bible “heroes” — Moses, Deborah, Elijah and David — when statues of them come to life and share their stories. After hearing those stories, the students realize that they can also be everyday heroes.
Wills taught elementary music in Cedar Falls for 16 years and coordinated several children’s musicals there before coming to Jefferson. She is assisted on this production by Karen Shannon, director of the Crazy 4 Christ program.
The musical will be preceded by a supper served at 5:30 at the Fellowship Hall. A free will donation will be accepted for the supper, with all proceeds going to UMCOR’s Imagine No Malaria project.
