A group of ten Greene County youngsters attended the Region 12 4-H Intermediate Bus Trip to Minneapolis on Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6. The trip for intermediate 4-H members (seventh and eighth grades) was jointly planned by the six county Extension offices in Region 12, including Greene, Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Guthrie, and Shelby counties.
Youngsters attending from Greene County included Arthur Bardole, Kara Betts, Gina Brown, Austin Delp, Onica Delp, Kara Reed and Evan Woodruff all of Jefferson, as well as Jared Marshall of Dana and Serenity Blair and Sam Naberhaus of Scranton.
On the trip, a combined 22 4-H members from Region 12 explored the Science Museum of Minnesota and even spent the night next to exhibits such as dinosaurs on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, the group continued to explore the Science Museum, toured the Mill City Museum, swam at the hotel, and youngsters ended the evening shopping and eating at the Mall of America. On the last day of the trip, the group checked out the Como Zoo before heading home after a fun filled weekend.
Greene County Extension youth and 4-H coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds said the annual event was a success. “I observed 4-H’ers meeting new friends and having fun while learning new things,” she said, “and that’s what 4-H is all about.” According to Reynolds, plans for another trip next spring to possibly visit St. Louis are already in the works.
