Art Cullen, winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing and editor/co-owner of the Storm Lake Times, will be the featured speaker at a Ground Hog Day dinner Saturday, Feb. 2, in Jefferson.
Cullen is known for his thoughtful commentary on immigration, water quality, and the impact of large-scale farming on the environment and on Iowa.
Cullen will discuss take-aways from the 2018 mid-term election and his book, Storm Lake: A Chronicle of Change, Resilience, and Hope from a Heartland Newspaper. Autographed copies of the book will be available for purchase following the dinner.
The Greene County Democrats are hosting the dinner at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Rotary Room. Social time will begin at 6 pm with dinner at 6:30. Culinary students at Greene County High School’s Ram Restaurant will prepare the dinner with the main course featuring Niman Ranch pork.
A silent auction will also be held, with all proceeds going to the Greene County Democrats’ 2020 campaign fund.
Seating is limited. Tickets for the dinner will be available Jan. 7. Persons who want more information or to reserve tickets in advance can call Tori Riley at 515-386-3087.
