The Greene County sheriff’s office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold a Take Back Saturday, April 26, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Law Enforcement Center, 204 S. Chestnut, Jefferson.
The Take Back event provides an opportunity for the public to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medication.
The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles/sharps. Only pills and patches will be accepted. The service is free and anonymous; no questions will be asked.
Last October, the DEA and thousands of state and local law enforcement partners collected 324 tons of prescription drugs at more than 4,114 sites. Combined with the results of seven previous Take Back events, the DEA and its partners have taken in more than 3.4 million (1,700 tons) of pills.
