The First United Methodist Church in Jefferson will be the scene of an old fashioned sewing bee on Monday. Those present hope to make between 400 and 500 dresses for girls in Nigeria.
The project is organized by fifth grader Hannah Curtis. She set out a few months ago to sew 500 dresses from pillowcases to send along with a mission team from the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church on a trip to Nigeria in June. So far, Hannah has supplies for 400 dresses. She has invited friends, family, her 4-H club, and church members to help make the dresses.
Hannah is a member of the Hardin Clovers 4-H club. She cordially invites members of other clubs to come to the sewing bee.
