In Greene County district court Brian Gary Brotherson, 55,of Lakeview was sentenced Sept. 28 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Brotherson was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. Court costs were $100. Paul Richard Nelson, 44, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the prison time was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. James Lee Hoyle, 19, of Beaver was sentenced to 60 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of trespass causing injury or damage greater than $200, and assault causing bodily injury. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. Hoyle was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Brittany Ann Neal, 24, of Scranton was sentenced to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. James Kenneth Harris, 31, of Woodward was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense. He must complete a domestic abuse program while incarcerated. Harris was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The judge found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $136.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jennifer Marie Ashby, 46, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; Steven Craig Smith II, 41, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Amanda Jo Goodpaster, 31, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault- serious; and Steven Clifford Jones, 29, of Grand Junction, sex abuse- third degree. Trial dates were set for Dec. 4 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Rickie Eugene Tuhn, 57, of Grand Junction, assault causing injury or mental illness; and Jon Richard Harvey, 52, of Lake George, MN, OWI- third or subsequent offense.
