Jared Mills (left), location manager of the Heartland Cooperative in Rippey, recently presented Pete Johnson, on behalf of the Rippey fire department, a check for $1,000 from the co-op to aid in the purchase of grain engulfment rescue tubes.

The training for use of the rescue equipment will be provided at no charge by the Fire Service Training Bureau, a division of the state fire marshal’s office.  The training will be held in Rippey Aug. 9, and Johnson reports fire personnel from Perry, Dawson, Grand Junction, Churdan and Jefferson will be invited to learn how to use the rescue tubes. The tubes will be available to other local fire departments.

The rescue tubes were partially purchased through a request from the Friends of Rippey to the Greene County Community Foundation for the Rippey fire department.
