In Greene County district court Shane Christopher Jewett, 42, of Paton was sentenced July 30 to 60 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. The jail time he serves is concurrent to jail time in a sentence for operating while intoxicated. He must complete a batterers education program at his own expense. Jewett was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $100 domestic abuse surcharge. He must pay up to $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $535.76 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Nicholas Carter Rice, 20, of Rippey was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- first offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Rice as fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge. One-half the fine and surcharge will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Kole Alexander Higgins, 23, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 20 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. Higgins was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Curt costs were $463. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Frank L. Farel, 39, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- second offense. All but seven days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Farel was fined $1,875 with a $656.25 surcharge. He must also pay up to $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Richard Jesse Duran, 45, of Panama was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of driving while license barred. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Dean Paul Hearn, 55, of Otho, criminal mischief- second degree; Priest Delray Wilson, 39, of Fort Dodge, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 33, of Jefferson, driving while license barred and burglary- third degree; James Lee Hoyle, 19, of Beaver, trespass causing injury or damage more than R200, and assault causing bodily injury; Parker Louis Stoneburner,19, of Ogden, possession of marijuana; Adam Charles Hay, 44, of Grand Junction, theft- second degree; Amanda Jo Goodpaster, 30, of Grand Junction, operating while intoxicated- first offense and child endangerment (three counts); and Brodrick James Greer, 20, of Ankeny, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Sept. 25 for all defendants except Hearn. A trial date of Oct. 30 was set for Hearn.
