The Peoples Bank Grand Junction branch sponsored free swimming lessons for 30 children at the Grand Junction pool on June 25-29. Lessons were held from 11 am to noon.
Children ages 4 or older of all different skill levels were trained by certified lifeguard instructors. Peoples Bank donated $400 to the pool to cover the costs of the lessons.
“I love working with kids, so it was a great experience for me to be there and present the payment,” said Barb Walker, who helped present the check to the pool and is a longtime employee of the Grand Junction branch. “A lot of the children call me Grandma Barb, so I knew quite a few of them, and I had fun watching them enjoy the lessons.”
