Ram boys fifth at HOIAC golf meet, Block brothers all-conference

Brothers Elijah and Jadon Block earned all-conference honors and the Ram team placed fifth at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference golf meet at the Tournament Club of Iowa course in Polk City May 1. Play was delayed for an hour because of the weather, but coach Dave Destival called it “a nice day for the rest of the meet.”

Block was fifth with a 79 and Jadon Block tied for seventh place with an 80. 

The other two scores in the Rams’ team score were Curtis Muir’s 102 and Ben Wilkins’ 108. Cody Gilbertson shot 110 and Sawyer Schiltz shot 112.

Team scores were Nevada 318, PCM 321, Roland-Story 333, Gilbert 338, Greene County 369, North Polk 369, South Hamilton 370 and Saydel 404.

The Greene County boys golf team hosted Carlisle for 18 holes of golf at Lakeside Golf Course Saturday. The Rams won with a team score of 369 while the Bison scored 405.
The Elijah Block was medalist at a three over par 75. Block was runner-up at 93. Other scores in the team score were Muir’s 96 and Schiltz’s 105. Travis Gierstorf shot 112 and Jared Marshall shot 114.
