For the second year, participants in the Relay for Life of Greene County will receive a T-shirt unique to the local Relay.
American Athletic Inc/Spalding, along with Fruit of the Loom, is again sponsoring the participant T-shirts. The T-shirts not only have the Relay for Life logo, but also feature a custom design by AAI/Spalding’s senior graphic designer John Sigler. Sigler created the design to accentuate this year’s “Color Out Cancer” theme.
The effort was coordinated by vice president of operations Mark Lane and human resources manager Kristin Russell.
Fruit of the Loom, which owns AAI/Spalding’s parent company Russell Athletic, is committed to Relay for Life. Fruit of the Loom has developed a national corporate team based out of its headquarters in Bowling Green, KY.
“By forming teams across the country to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving work, Fruit of the Loom and our employees can come together with communities to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and most importantly, fight back against the disease that has already taken too much,” said Rick Medlin, president and CEO of Fruit of the Loom.
T-shirts are provided to all Relay for Life team participants who raise $50 or more for their team. They will be available starting April 21 to Relay teams as they turn in their fundraising proceeds at the Jefferson office of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank during regular business hours.
The Relay for Life of Greene County is slated for Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
“We are very excited to have our own unique T-shirts for the Relay, and we’re grateful to AAI/Spalding, Russell Athletic and Fruit of the Loom for their support of our work to raise funds for the American Cancer Society,” said Relay chairperson Peg Raney. “The success of our Relay depends not only on the teams who participate and the folks who attend team fundraisers and the Relay, but also on business sponsorships.”
