In Greene County district court Matthew Dean Hall, 40, of Huxley was sentenced Jan. 26 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone and he must complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Hall was fined $1,875 with a $656.25 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education. The judge ruled Hall is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Christopher Adelbert Laurent, 48, of Jefferson was fined $1,000 with a $35 surcharge after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoke. The judge found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Brayden Michael Habben, 18, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana- first offense; Michelle Lyn Paradise, 45, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; Shane Christopher Jewett, 42, of Paton, OWI- first offense; Justin Ray Lopez, 19, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness- first offense, and in another case, manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to deliver marijuana; Christopher Adelbert Laurent, 48, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; Ryan James Brown, 45, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- second offense, and in another case, eluding and driving while license barred; Jose Trinidad Hernandez, 41, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault impeding air flow; Anthony Crook, 33, of Jefferson, gambling- false statement on application; Nathaniel Clark Aldrich, 30, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault impeding blood/ air flow; and Sawyer Troy Gibson, 21, of Scranton, OWI- first offense; and Cindy Jo Sheehy, 56, of Grand Junction, dependent adult abuse/exploitation ore than $100, and unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,000. Trial dates were set for Feb. 27 for all defendants except Sheehy, Crook and Gibson. Sheehy’s trial date was set for March 27. Crook’s and Gibson’s trial dates were set for April 3.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Travis Frederick Venteicher, 34, of Grand Junction, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Zachery Allen Waters, 21, of Grand Junction, operating vehicle without owner’s consent; Brett Dwaine West, 41, of Woodward, possession methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense, and possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense; and Timothy Lowell Wilson, 57, of Fort Dodge, unlawful possession of prescription drug and possession of marijuana- second or subsequent offense (two counts).
