The middle school boys cross country runners placed first at another meet, time the Panorama Invitational Sept. 14.
“I was extremely happy with how the runners competed in the hot weather and on the toughest course of the season. The times were a little slower, but that is to be expected with the conditions. We competed well; the boys team achieved another first place and we were missing one of our top runners,” coach Mary Pedersen said.
Dakota Mobley paced the boys, placing third in 13:24. Ethan Frederick finished eighth in 13:50. Other times and finishes were Logan Woodruff, 10th, 14:08; Jose Velazco, 24th, 15:20; Jayden Carstensen, 50th, 16:54; Jax Carstensen, 17:26, 55th; Chad Maston, 56th, 17:26; Cade Silbaugh, 70th, 18:44; and Parker Lehman, 73rd, 18:59.
Team scores for boys were Greene County 74; Van Meter 110; Ankeny Christian 118; ACGC 125; Ogden 125; IKM-Manning 128; West Central Valley 150; Panorama 163; Earlham 167; Clarke 198; Madrid 272.
Olivia Shannon was the only girl to compete. She placed 26t in 17:51.
The eighth grade volleyball team hosted Nevada Sept. 12 and won one game and lost five.
Game scores for the A squad were 9-21, 7-21 11-21. Game scores for the B squad were 21-16, 12-21, 15-21.
Lucy Dudley served four for four with two aces, and Trista Gierstorf served 1 for 1.
Overall match records are A, 0-3; B, 1-2; and C, 1-0. Overall game records are A, 0-9; B, 3-6, and C, 3-0.
“We will continue to work on our offense and keeping the ball in play,” coach Teresa Green said.
The seventh grade volleyball team won four of six games, with the A squad and the B squad winning two each. Coach Betsy Wiederin reported that Emma Hoyle, Gretchen Davis, Analynn Baugh and Madi Johns were top servers.
