The annual Star Party at Whiterock Conservancy is slated for Friday, Sept. 15, starting at 7:30 pm. The event is hosted by the Ames Area Amateur Astronomers.
Participants at the free event will be guided by astronomy enthusiasts to peer through telescopes at the wonders of the night sky. “It is amazing what you can see from one of the darkest places in Iowa – Whiterock Conservancy’s Star Field,” an organizer said.
Persons at the family-friendly event can wander from telescope to telescope looking at nebula, planets and more, while hearing from the astronomers the stories of the sky.
Persons should bring a blanket and dress for the evening night.
Whiterock Conservancy is located at 1436 Highway 141, Coon Rapids. Persons who want more information can call 712-684-2697.
