The Greene County supervisors will hold a public hearing to amend the current year budget Tuesday, May 30.
The amended budget shows a total ending fund balance of $3, 412,636, a decrease of $83,474 from the budget as it was last amended.
Some of the changes in the budget are due to changes in expenses and revenue in funds handled by the county for the Greene County Fair Association.
Added expenses include an increase in the cost to the county of the impound lot that will be jointly operated by the county and the city of Jefferson. The lot is larger than first planned. The county is paying for white rock and fencing, leading to a $30,000 increase in cost. Also included is an increased distribution to the Heart of Iowa mental health region and the county’s $24,000 share of the Vision 2020 planning process.
The public hearing will begin at 9 am. Click here to see the public notice.
