Sunday, May 21, Pastor Lee Schott from the Iowa Correctional Facility for Women at Mitchellville will preach at all three churches in the parish. The committee in charge of the Pancakes for the Women at the Well that was served last week thanked the people who attended for their generous support. The committee was able to present $360 to help support the work of the Rippey UMC congregation for this mission at Mitchellville.
Rippey alumni annual meeting – The Rippey Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday, May 27, an noon at the Rippey United Methodist Church. The meal will be served by Kevin and Mary Hick and their crew. Reservations as early as possible and no later than May 22 are respectfully requested. The cost is $12 and Mary Ann Young Miller has graciously volunteered to take the reservations by phone at 515-465-2449. The business meeting will be in the sanctuary after the meal.
The Rippey School memorial sign and patio will be a place to gather and reflect. Before his untimely death last year, Keith Devilbiss had this huge project completed. However, there is always room for more bricks commemorating alumni, loved ones, and those you wish to have remembered for years to come. New orders are being sent in July 1, 2017. We are very grateful to Mark Devilbiss for laying the bricks that were ordered after his father’s death.

News in and around Rippey – Last week was another busy week for the Roberts with several doctor appointments and physical therapy sessions for Philip and a special trip to Winterset to see their granddaughter Addie Burkett perform in her sixth grade band and vocal concert.
Mother’s Day was a real family affair when three of their four children came by with cards and gifts and child number four called in her best wishes from Winterset. Toni had fixed a light lunch of barbecue pork sandwiches and pasta salad for whomever would be stopping by to visit. “Takers” included Lori Bardole and Chris Roberts of Rippey and Matt Roberts and granddaughter Cassie Bardole of Jefferson. Brenda Roberts had stopped by earlier and granddaughter Sarah Bradley and two boys had brought flowers to Grandma Toni Thursday! It was great having the kids home for a visit and a meal around the table!
Andrianna Hanaman and Omar Gallardo from Duluth, MN, visited with her grandparents, Dale and Nancy Hanaman over the weekend. They were here for a competition in Des Moines. Dale and Nancy took them on a short tour of local history to the site of the Greene County coal mine, Truman Davis’ grave and Squirrel Hollow. Adrianna and Omar also helped plant the garden
