There will be a total of six Greene County events at the coed state track and field meet at Drake Stadium Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Rams earned their state meet bids at a district meet in Denison May 11. First and second place finishers at district meets automatically qualified for the state meet. Remaining spots were filled by comparing finishes statewide.
Sophomore Janelle Brophy was first in the long jump with a leap of 15’ 8”. Senior Olivia Hansen finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.20 seconds, and the sprint medley relay composed of freshman Megan Doran, junior Megan Durbin, sophomore Melanie Doran and Hansen placed second with a time of 1:53.40.
Durbin, who was Class 3A state champion in the high jump, placed third in Denison. However, her jupm of 5’ 5” was high enough to get her to Drake Stadium.
Freshman Carter Morton placed first in the high jump at 6’ 2”, four inches higher than his previous best jump.
The 4 X 100 relay of seniors Nick Schroeder and Chase Stoline, freshman Kolby Kafer and senior Logan Lansman placed third with a time of 44.50 seconds. They qualified at-large.
The Class 3A high jump is Thursday, with the boys at 2 pm and the girls at 4:30 pm. The girls 200 meter dash preliminary will be at Thursday at 4:20 pm.
The girls Class 3A long jump is Friday at 4:30 pm. The boys 4 X 100 relay will run in a preliminary heat at 6:50 pm.
The girls 3A spring medley relay final is Saturday at 9:20 am.
