A quintet of Greene County senior musicians – Emily Heupel, John Mobley, Noah Von Stein, Michael Kennedy and Kenna Marquardt – were honored at the annual awards concert May 1.
Emily Heupel, an oboist, received the Director’s Award for instrumental music. She was selected for the All-State band her junior year and has played in many honor bands.
John Mobley received the Jazz Band Award. Mobley has played trumpet in the jazz band four years and has been featured soloist several times.
Music directors selected students for the Arion Award based on leadership and musicianship. Band director Wes Anderson named Noah Von Stein, a two-time All-Stater on bass clarinet. Choir director Dave Heupel selected Michael Kennedy. Kennedy is a three-time All-Stater and played the role of Donkey in this year’s production of “Shrek the Musical.”
Kenna Marquardt received the Director’s Award for vocal music. Marquardt was selected for the All-State chorus her senior year and will be remembered for her role as Princess Fiona in “Shrek”.
All seniors and their parents were recognized during the concert.
