The Lenten study, The God We Can Know continues on Mondays at 7 pm at the Rippey United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend these sessions when they can.
True Heroes Under God (THUG) will host Chateau Le Grand on Sunday, March 19, at the Rippey UMC. Seatings are at 5, 5:30, 6, and 6:30. If you are tempted by swordfish, filet mignon, or Wagu beef come and join us! Our specialty is spaghetti which you will enjoy with a salad, garlic bread, and ice cream for dessert. This is a popular fundraiser in which you get to determine how much you donate based on which entrée you order- and you’ll enjoy our delicious spaghetti. Rippey Lions Club: The Rippey Lions Club shared a potluck meal for their recent meeting on February 16 with Nancy and Paul Burrow, coordinators for the evening. New members recently join the club are Mark and Cindy Devilbiss and Ashley Brelsford. Sponsors were the late Keith Devilbiss for Cindy and Mark and Myron Rinker for Ashley. During the business meeting the group continued making plans for the Mother-Son banquet on April 1. This continues a tradition of parent-child banquets that have been held for more than years. Dick Bardole is the coordinator for this event. They also discussed further work at the parks in Rippey and a dedication event in the summer.
Guests at the meeting included Dr Rick Elbert and his guest and Paul Thompson, interim District Governor for the NW Lions Club District. Thompson shared a video and comments on the work of Lions Clubs in Iowa and around the world. Dr Elbert shared how he became a chiropractor and established his practice in Ogden. He shared about his work in Ames and later in the Ogden with patients of all ages. The next Lions Club meeting will be on March 26 at 7 pm at the Rippey United Methodist Church.

Phil and Toni Roberts spent Saturday in Winterset. Josie and Addie Burkett, daughters of Tony and Wendy Burkett played their solos at contest. Both received a 1+, Josie on her bari sax and Josie on her trumpet. There were a couple volleyball games to attend, also, so it proved to be a very busy, but proud day for these grandparents.
Sharon Laub hosted a lunch on Friday. Her son Kris proved to be a very good waiter for the event. Her sister Joyce Laub (yes, they married brothers), Myron and Maralynn Rinker and Phil and Toni Roberts were able to attend the gathering.
Virgene Morse and Jean Borgeson spent Friday in Fort Dodge for an appointment and lunch. We seem to go to the same place to eat each trip, and Virgene always makes sure I get a piece of pie to take home. It was mighty tasty later that afternoon!
