Honor Flights for Greene County veterans

It’s called the Wall that Heals. Listed on it are the names of more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to our country during the Vietnam War. The Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. also includes “The Three Servicemen” statue and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial.

In 2016, the Honor Flight began taking Greene County Vietnam Veterans to see the memorial built to honor them. They have the chance to talk with other veterans who served and share their stories and experiences. If the Wall really does heal; they get to touch it. And the Honor Flights let the veterans know that the citizens of Greene County appreciate their service and sacrifice.

The Greene County Honor Flight fund only has $120 left and there are currently 10 Greene County Vietnam Veterans waiting to be honored. The cost is $600 per veteran. We need your help, so that Greene County does not lose its seats to other counties.

We’re asking for a donation to make sure that our Greene County veterans get to be a part of these flights. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Please help us secure our Greene County Korean and Vietnam War Veterans’ seats on the 2017 Honor Flights.

If you can help, please send a donation to: Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight, 320 S. 12th St., Fort Dodge, IA 50501. Donations can also be dropped off at the VFW in Jefferson. Please make checks payable to Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight. Your donation is tax deductible.

Thank you, Linda Hocke on behalf of the Greene County Honor Flight veterans
