Blue Shirt Day brings awareness to bullying issues

stomp-out-bullyingBlue will be the color of the day this Monday, Oct. 3. All over the world people are encouraged by STOMP Out Bullying™ to wear blue the first Monday of October as Blue Shirt Day® World Day of Bullying Prevention™. In some places, the observance goes beyond clothing. In New York City the Empire State Building will be lit blue for the day.

STOMP Out Bullying was created in 2005 by Love Our Children USA™. According to the organization’s website, STOMP Out Bullying focuses on reducing and preventing bullying, cyberbullying, sexting and other digital abuse, educating against homophobia, racism and hatred, decreasing school absenteeism , and deterring violence in schools, online and in communities across the country.
