The Jefferson city council dealt with three personnel matters at its meeting Tuesday.
Jefferson police sergeant Heath Enns was promoted to captain.
Police chief Mark Clouse noted that Enns has been with the department for seven years. “He’s always shown excellence in his work. He’s stepped up a lot in the last few months and taken on a lot of extra duties that weren’t required of him. He’s an asset to the department,” Clouse said.
Enns’ annual salary will be $56,000. The sergeant position has been vacant since Clouse was promoted to chief. The next promotion in the department will be to the sergeant spot.
The council approved hiring Mike Wallace as a general service/sanitation/recycling worker. He will start working June 15 with an annual wage of $32,926.
The council also approved extending the contract of city administrator Mike Palmer for another year to June 30, 2017. His annual salary will be $90,000.
