FIFTY Fest, the 37th annual Bell Tower Festival, will again include an old-fashioned spelling bee hosted by the Greene County Historical Society.
This year’s spell-down is slated for Saturday, June 11, at 2 pm at the Greene County Community Center. Trophies will be awarded to first and second place winners and everyone will receive a ribbon.
Spellers will compete in age categories, starting with children who have completed first grade through adults. The registration book is available now at the Community Center, but spellers can also sign up Saturday. There is no charge to compete or to watch.
Folks who think they know a lot can prove it Saturday at the Bell Tower Festival trivia contest. Teams of three will compete in a free contest that begins at 3 pm and concludes at about 5 pm. The event will be held on the second floor of city hall. Contestants should arrive before 3 pm; teams will be formed for those who come unaffiliated.
