Greene County High School will be represented at the large group All-State Speech Festival Saturday by the men of radio station KPLD 105.1. The radio news group was selected as a performing group, making it eligible to compete for the “best of event” banner.

Seniors Karl Jones, Logan Hoyt and Kyle Bettey, and juniors Dan Neal and Parker Willis comprise the group. Jones is the only one with previous experience in the radio news event.

The students wrote and recorded a radio news broadcast including breaking news, weather, sports, a feature and a commercial. They selected Nov. 22 as their date, with the feature about the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The recording was done at the Prairie Lakes AEA facility in Pocahontas.

The All-State Festival is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Speech Association and will be held on the Iowa State University campus.

Glenna Strong is speech coach.
