Food Check-out Week, February 16 – 22 is a time when county, state, and national level Farm Bureaus celebrate the abundance and safety of food.
In observance of this very important week, Greene County Farm Bureau will have a display set up Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Saturday, Feb. 22 at Fareway in Jefferson. The display, set up by board members, will feature a grocery cart full of groceries where shoppers will have the opportunity to guess the farmer’s share of the items in the cart. In return, the winner will receive a $25 gift card to Fareway, and the cart of groceries will be donated to the Greene County Christian Action Resources Center, all courtesy of Greene County Farm Bureau.
Not only does this week celebrate the abundance and safety of our food supply, but also recognizes the farmer’s contribution to the affordability of food in the United States.
