In Greene County district court Tyrrell Rilee Scheuermann, 19, of Story City was granted deferred judgments Jan. 22 after he pleaded guilty to one count of interference with official acts causing injury and one count of criminal mischief-third degree. On the interference charge, a judgment was entered for a $625 civil penalty and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge and he was placed on probation for two years. On the criminal mischief charge, a judgment was entered for a $315 civil penalty and he pas placed on probation for two years. The civil penalty was suspended on that charge. Scheuermann must also pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees to be determined and $247.97 court costs.
Scheuermann was originally charged with assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury (two counts) and criminal mischief-second degree. A companion case in magistrate court in which he was charged with interference with official acts was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Patrick Michael Kennedy, 31, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. The court found Kennedy is unable to pay $120 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, but he must pay a $125 LEI surcharge and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Matthew l. Ehlers, 29, of Henderson, KY, was sentenced Jan. 22 after he pleaded guilty to charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and eluding. On the operating without owner’s consent charge Ehlers was sentenced to two years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. On the eluding charge, Ehlers was sentenced to two years (consecutive). The sentenced was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined and $140 court costs. Ehlers was initially charged with theft-second degree, eluding, and possession of marijuana. A companion case in magistrate court in which Ehlers was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Andrew L. Jensen, 33, of Jefferson, theft-second degree; Nicholas James Miner, 37, of Fairplay, CO, possession of a firearm as a felon and possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense; Zachary Wailes, 21, of Breda, possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense, and eluding while participating in a felony causing bodily injury; and Devon Christopher Miller, 20, of Ames, illegal possession of prescription drugs. A trial date was set for March 1 for Jensen and for April 5 for Miner, Wailes and Miller.
Information is available since the return of arrest warrants that William Russell Griffin, 41, of Rippey has been charged with possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, failure to affix tax stamp, and manufacture/deliver/possess counterfeit controlled substance. Fashion Marie Foster, 41, of Rippey has been charged with possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, possession of cocaine, and failure to affix a tax stamp.
