In Greene County district court Justin Yager, 29, of Carnavon was sentenced Jan. 28 to 48 hours in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Yager was fined $500 with a $175 surcharge. He must also pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), and $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. A judgment was entered against Cordilla Kay Lorentzen, 22, of Scranton after she pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment-third degree. She was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. She must also pay $120 for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $334.28 court costs. Lorentzen was originally charged with assault without intent causing bodily injure, child endangerment, serious injury by vehicle and harassment. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Zachary Eugene Sukovaty, 18, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense; David Troy Upchurch, 36, of Jefferson, OWI-second offense; and Danielle L. Schofield, 27, of Jefferson, theft-aggravated. Trial dates were set for April 8 in every case.
