Last group of winners told in Chamber’s Give-Away

The Greene County Chamber of Commerce’s “Hometown Holidays” Christmas Certificate Give-Away wrapped up with a final drawing held Monday, Dec. 21.

Winners in the fourth week of the drawings were Jill Johnson, who registered at Homestead Coffee and Bakery; Michelle Fields, who registered at Peony Chinese Restaurant; and LeAnne Kinney, who registered at Ben Franklin. They received $50 in Christmas Certificates they can redeem at any participating business.

The Christmas Certificate Give-Away awarded a total of $600 in certificates that can be used through March 1 at Peony Chinese Restaurant, The Printer’s Box, Addie’s, Homestead Coffee and Bakery, Don’s Ace Hardware, Fudge’s Flower Shop and Gifts, Angie’s Tea Garden, Jefferson Family Chiropractic, Pizza Ranch, Bee & Herald, Royal Jewelers, Ben Franklin, Gift Garden at Greene County Medical Center, Krieger’s Flower Shop, McAtee Tire and Service Center, Shopko, Deal’s Orchard, Iowa Store at Wild Rose Casino or Country Blessings.

Winners have not yet been announced for the Christmas coloring contest sponsored by A & W Family Restaurant, Pizza Ranch and the Bee & Herald for children in first through fifth grade.

According to the Chamber’s Super Elf Sheilah Pound, about 100 children visited Mr and Mrs Claus at their Winter Wonderland in the Masonic lodge on the west side of the courthouse square in Jefferson. All children received a free ticket to take a grown-up to the top of Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower, compliments of the Chamber. A special treat was the arrival of Santa Claus in a seasonally appropriate New Way garbage truck provided by Scranton Manufacturing Dec. 19.

Those who attended the free showing of National Lampoon’s Christmas comedy “Christmas Vacation” at the Sierra Community Theatre Dec. 12 had plenty of laughs and free admission, thanks to MacDonald Insurance.

Area residents have had help keeping track of all the extra holiday activities around the county with a Holiday Activity Guide prepared by the Chamber. Sponsors for the guide were the Chamber’s emerald members – Home State Bank, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank and Wild Rose Casino – and GreeneCountyNewsOnline. The guide also lists Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services for many Greene County churches.

Wells Fargo Bank supported the Chamber’s Hometown Holiday efforts as an All the Glitter sponsor.
