The star-spangled banner now waves over the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
The 25-foot flag pole was erected Friday morning by the city street crew. The pole, flag, and LED solar lighting were donated by Vi Hoffman as a memorial to her late husband Harry, a Jefferson business owner and longtime supporter of the Jefferson park and recreation department.
Work remains to be done on the planter surrounding the pole, and those plans are not yet finalized. Jefferson park and recreation director Vicky Lautner said she hopes to have a dedication ceremony yet this fall, and to place a plaque nearby noting the memorial.
