Rams end regular cross country season at Saydel

GCHS cross countryThe Ram cross-country teams ended their regular season at the Saydel Invitational Thursday, Oct. 15. The girls team boasted two medalists – Olivia Hansen in seventh place with a time of 21:40.4, and Emily Finch in 10th place with a time of 21:57.7.

Other finishes for the girls were Melanie Doran, 42nd, 25:15; Sunny Mobley, 57th, 27:17.4; Regan Lamoureux, 58th, 27:28.3; Emily Bettey, 70th, 20:03.2 (personal record); Emily Most, 72nd, 29:19.2; Emma Larson, 75th, 30:20.1; and Caytlyn Adamson, 82nd, 32:07.1.

Among the boys, Ben Wilkins was the fastest Ram, finishing in 47th pace with a time of 20:30 (personal record). Other finishes were Nick Killion, 49th, 20:369; Ethan Woodruff, 90th, 22:0.9; Nathan Kennedy, 120th, 24:17.5; and Jacob Hueser, 139th, 27:00.8

Team scoring for girls was North Polk 25, Ballard 46, PCM 118, Nevada 123, Greene County 132, Pella Christian 167, Saydel 169 and Perry 170.

Team scoring for boys was North Polk 33, Ballard 87, Nevada 111, Carlisle 132, Perry 163, Pella Christian 168, Saydel 170, Ankeny Christian 176, PCM 179 and Greene County 275.

The Rams will compete in a 3A state qualifying meet Oct. 22 in Glenwood. Other teams there will be ADM, Atlanticc, Clarke (Osceola, girls only), Creston, Dallas Center-Grimes, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, Kuemper (Carroll), Perry, Saydel and Winterset. The top three teams and the first 15 individuals will qualify for the state meet Oct. 31 in Fort Dodge.
