Andrew Wayne Hall, 18, of Des Moines was granted deferred judgments in Greene County district court after he changed his plea to guilty to charges of assault-serious (amended from assault while displaying a dangerous weapon) and false report to public entity. Hall must pay a $315 civil penalty on each of the two charges, and he was placed on probation for one year. A charge of theft-third degree was dismissed. Court costs were $364.59. Jordan Robert Stewart, 23, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana-second offense. He was placed on probation for one year and must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at his own expense. Stewart must pay a civil penalty of $315 with a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education, and $140 court costs. Restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in the amount of $60 was waived as the court found Stewart unable to pay. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Roy Steed Cope, 61, of Centerville, burglary-third degree; Kera A. Tesdahl, 27, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana; Megan Marie McCormick, 28, of Ames, operating while intoxicated-first offense; Craig Darwin Presley, 54, of Lake View, OWI-second offenseand Bille Gaye Kucharo, 54, of Des Moines, OWI-first offense. A trial date of Nov. 3 was set for Tesdahl. A trial date ofDec. 15 was set for all other defendants.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Kurtis Bradley Langfitt, 26, of Grand Junction, conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, burglary-second degree and burglary-third degree; Deann Marie Goff, 33, of Jefferson, harassment-first degree, criminal mischief-third degree and trespass causing injury or damage greater than $200; and Matthew L. Ehlers, 28 of Henderson, KY, theft-second degree, eluding, and possession of marijuana.
